Slap/Pop gets a facelift!

After carefully thinking over the decision, and then completely abandoning previous careful thought, I decided to go ahead and switch the theme over to a three-column layout, and so far I'm enjoying it. It's not quite as visually slick as the Drupify theme was, but it's not too far behind.

Sponsored Blogging? Eh, I'll give it a shot.

As you all know (maybe), I'm currently between employment opportunities, due to my previous employer's contract getting cut short and therefore causing me to be laid off... Well, since I play around online a good deal, why not try and capitalize on that, right?

Entrecard rolls out multiple blogs on one account!

Entrecard has finally rolled out a feature that allows users to put multiple blogs under one account, and spread credits between them as you desire to do so. Great feature, and for once I can't take advantage of it as this is the only blog I've got running (for now hehe). But for those of you that have a ton of blogs, this will make managing and campaigning for them much easier.

Ad system: BlogRush

After finding Entrecard, I've been looking at other new-ish advertising systems based on an exchange principle. I found one called BlogRush that is almost the same, but still quite different. Either way, it seems to generate a good amount of sticky traffic.

Two columns or three? Wow, what a debate..

I really like this theme for Drupal, however, it's two columns... And I am really starting to dislike the lack of room for stuff above the fold. Thinking about switching out to a three column theme, but there are some inherent problems, so I'm asking for some input.

First, this theme might be converted to having a third column some time soon... But who knows. I like the look, i just don't like the limitations on space.

Why use Adsense if your readers won't click the ads? My attempts to support other bloggers.

Google Adsense. It's a wonderful product that many webmasters/bloggers utilize to varying degrees of success. Some bloggers live off of Adsense (and other affiliates), others may get just enough to have them cut a check. More than that, most people probably don't receive enough monetization to receive a check once every three months.

Why is that? Not enough traffic? Too high of a bounce rate? Poor placement of the ads (such as below the fold, etc)? Readers who are of the "I never ever click ads" mindset? All or a combination of all of the above?

Promotion is hard work, and blogging has suffered.

My band, Low Flyer, is playing The Boardwalk tonight in Orangevale, and as a result, I've been in a mad obsession of promoting. Myspace, Twitter, Fubar, Facebook, you name it, I've been pimping on it.

Ever go golfing? If not, you should try!

Some time last year, my wife and I discovered this amazingly fun game called Albatross18, an online golf MMO on the free to play/pay for extras business model. It's called Pangya! in Korea, where it was developed, and is a really great anime-styled golfing game, complete with special power shots, RPG-element stat building, and more. So, we got hooked, and so did my brother-in-law.

My brother-in-law driving with a putter. Yeah, you heard that right.

Shortly thereafter, we decided that REAL golf would be HELLA FUN, and found the local driving ranges, including Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. In addition to being one of the largest and oldest courses in town, it's also the only one with a 24-hour driving range during the spring/summer/fall months. Needless to say, being the night-owls we are, we got hooked. Big time.
