Twitterlocal.net - Finding nearby tweets made easy!

By Lou - Posted on 07 April 2008

I've been using Twitter a lot recently, and it's one of those things that's now starting to become automatic. I don't have many followers, and mostly it's me posting random crap to an audience of less than three. But it's enjoyable nonetheless, and it's a sort of chronology of what I do throughout the day.

The issue is, I want to see who else locally is using Twitter, if any of my friends are using it that I'm not aware of, or anyone local of a notable interest. That's where Twitterlocal.net comes in.

Twitterlocal allows you to specify a city to search by, distance radius, and then allows you to view the public timeline matching that search criteria. It also provides links to an RSS and XML feeds so you can aggregate them into your website (as I've done here), or into your feed reader (netvibes, yahoo reader, google reader, bloglines, etc.), and makes it pretty easy to find both established and new local Twitter users.

It's definitely worth the quick glance, and will give you a bit of an insight as to what's going on in your town or city that you're otherwise probably not aware of.
